General Care Instructions

Unless specified, all wire used in our jewelry is high-quality Parawire brand craft wire, known for its tarnish-resistant enamel coating. This unique coating prevents the wire from tarnishing and ensures it doesn't directly contact your skin. Over time, with frequent wear, the enamel may begin to wear off. If this occurs, simply apply a light coat of clear nail polish to the affected area to protect it. Items such as rings and pendants are most likely to be affected, so be sure to check areas where the jewelry makes contact with your skin.

Thanks to the tarnish-resistant enamel, there’s no need to polish or clean the wire as you would with other metals. Simply wiping the jewelry gently with a soft cloth to remove dirt or oil will suffice. Please avoid using sonic or chemical cleaners, as these may damage the enamel coating and expose the wire underneath.

Care for Chains

In some cases, your jewelry may come with a copper or silver chain. Unlike the wire used in the jewelry itself, these chains are not tarnish-resistant and may develop tarnish over time. We provide a jewelry cleaning cloth with each purchase that has a chain in the order to help you maintain the shine of your chain and jewelry. If you did not receive one, please reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to provide one.

When wiping your jewelry, be gentle around the stone to avoid disturbing the enamel coating. The cleaning cloth can also be used to lightly wipe your jewelry, ensuring it stays looking its best without damaging the coating.

Earring Care

For your earrings, all shepherd hooks and stud earrings are made with stainless steel earring posts. Stainless steel is hypoallergenic and generally safe for most wearers. However, please avoid using hydrogen peroxide or isopropyl alcohol to clean your earrings, as these substances can damage the metal. Instead, use a piercing care solution for cleaning, as it is specifically formulated to preserve the integrity of your jewelry.

Special Requests & Custom Accommodations

If you have sensitive skin or cannot wear stainless steel, we are happy to offer sterling silver or gold earring hooks or studs upon request. Please note that this will incur an additional cost due to the higher price of these materials. A deposit will also be required to cover the custom order of these specialty components.
